Job summary

The Commonwealth of Kentucky, Department of Corrections is hiring a Purchasing Officer I for the new Medical Facility at Blackburn Correctional Complex in Lexington. The role entails performing entry-level duties in procurement and payment of goods and non-professional services across the agency, and coordinating with vendors on quotes and invoices.

This position exists within the Justice & Public Safety Cabinet and offers office-based work with standard full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required for Purchasing Officer I.
• Experience in purchasing is not mandatory; substitute education for experience allowed.
• Certification options (CPPB CPPO) may substitute for college requirements.

Responsibilities

• Gathers, prepares and maintains purchase and payment documents.
• Works with vendors to collect quotes, invoices and other documents.
• Pro Card Holder and reconciles purchases.
• Monitors purchases made for conformance with the Model Procurement Code, (KRS 45A)
• Performs beginning level duties in the performance of and, or, payment of goods and non-professional services per Small Purchase Authority.
• Performs other duties as directed by Fiscal Manager and Supervisor.
