Qualifications

• BS in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 0–1 years – Experience with PSM processes preferred; Lean Six Sigma knowledge preferred.
• 1–3 years – AutoCAD software usage.

Responsibilities

• Review process deliverables: P&IDs, process data sheets, equipment specs, AutoCAD drawings, SOPs, PM schedules, HAZOP, manuals.
• Analyze LCO2 process flows to improve quality, cost, and throughput.
• Apply statistical methods for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
• Assist with installation, modification, and maintenance of process equipment.
• Maintain safe, reliable processes while improving production rates and changeovers.
• Provide operational and technical support to team and management.
• Develop proficiency in LCO2 refinery processes.

Job description

Junior Process Engineer

Matheson is seeking a motivated Junior Process Engineer to join our fast‑paced engineering team in our CO2 and dry ice division. Safety is our number one goal. This requires that you embrace the safety first concept. The role requires a good understanding of heat transfer, fluid flow, and chemical exchange associated with the refinery processes. This is an entry‑level position where the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in overseeing the installation, operation, and maintenance of LCO2 refinery equipment. Additional responsibilities include monitoring manufacturing processes to ensure product quality and efficiency, analyzing data to identify areas of improvement, and implementing changes to drive improvement.

Essential Function

• Assist with review of various deliverables such as process flow diagrams, P&IDs, process data sheets, equipment specifications, AutoCAD drawings, cause and effect diagrams, standard operating procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, HAZOP, and maintenance manuals.
• Learn to analyze LCO2 process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput. Develop action plans and communicate effectively to all levels of the organization.
• Apply statistical methods and perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
• Assist with the installation, modification, upgrade, and maintenance of process equipment.
• Maintain reliable and safe process systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
• Provide operational and technical support to team members and management.
• Develop a proficiency in the LCO2 refinery processes.

Education

BS in Chemical Engineering or related field.

Work Experience

• 0‑1 years – Managing Process Safety Management (PSM) processes Preferred, Experience in project management and team leadership Preferred, Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma Required, Designing manufacturing processes Preferred.
• 1‑3 years – AutoCAD Software usage.

• Proficient with Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, AutoCAD.

Travel will be to support emergent needs, major project commissioning, and process assistance as assigned by the Director of Engineering. Regularly up to 25% travel, during major projects up to 50% travel.
