Job summary

U.S. Engineering in Westminster, CO seeks an Assistant Preconstruction Manager to support design, budgeting, and preconstruction activities from concept through the project phase.

You will assist with design development, cost/schedule analysis, and coordination with project teams. The role emphasizes collaboration with operations, estimating, and clients, with duties including preparing budgets, maintaining estimating methods, and participating in RFPs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Science/Management, or Architectural Engineering preferred.
• Equivalent technical training and related experience will be considered.
• 1–5 years of technical or administrative experience in HVAC, piping, and plumbing at a commercial, industrial, or institutional level.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conceptually finishing the design on incomplete design documents and review cost/schedule impact.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a preliminary estimating method, format, and process that meets estimating goals.
• Update preliminary estimates until the final design is complete and maintain a database of estimating information from past projects.
• Manage small project budgeting with support from a Project Manager; lead Pricing Review/Kick-off meetings with Operations, Estimating, and VC.
• Proficient use of the USEC Pricing/Bid Sheet.
• Provide relevant information to the Operations Team to maintain the project schedule until preconstruction ends and assist Project Manager with updates for lead times.
• Develop and foster peer-to-peer relationships with clients; support RFP processes during development and interview prep.
• Attend industry learning opportunities and participate in USEC extracurricular activities.
