Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Entry Level Power Systems Design Engineer to join our team in the United States. This role supports several projects in dynamic environments, working with engineers and other professionals to deliver projects on time and within budget.

You will perform power distribution design tasks, analyses, and interface with facility equipment, while following safety standards and client requirements. Travel and field work are possible as projects progress.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Electrical Engineering required.
• 0–3 years in power distribution design, implementation, or commissioning.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop drawings: one-line diagrams, wiring & power system plans, lighting plans, installation details.
• Design power distribution systems with load/short circuit/arc flash analyses.
• Develop protection schemes with coordination studies and transfer schemes.
• Perform load calculations for sizing components and cables.
• Specify substations, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, drives for LV/MV systems.
• Design lighting for test facilities and ensure adequate illumination.
• Interface facility equipment via hardwired interfaces and industrial networks.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NFPA 70E and related codes.
• Support hardware assembly and on-site installation.
• Perform startup, checkout, and commissioning, domestically and abroad.
• Communicate project status with clients and management.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure project success.
• Estimate design, material, installation, checkout, and activation efforts.
• Plan labor resources and schedule milestones.
