Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Junior Engineer for Mount Sinai Hospital to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair essential plant equipment including air, vacuum, steam, and power systems. The role interfaces with Building Management Systems to ensure safe, efficient hospital operations.

Responsibilities include monitoring meters, performing load tests on generators, maintaining logs, and communicating status through reports.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of journeyman experience in mechanical or electrical field.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools and basic electrical testing (Volt-Ohm Meters, Amprobes).
• FDNY Refrigeration License.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair all plant equipment to ensure acceptable operating parameters.
• Ensure emergency generators are clean and orderly; perform monthly load testing.
• Maintain heating, cooling, ventilation, vacuum, air, power generation and auxiliary equipment.
• Interpret plant meters and gauges and take action for safe operation.
• Prepare reports on plant status and work performed, including shutdown and safety reports.
