Job summary

Plains Midstream Canada seeks a Utility Locator I to support pipeline protection and damage prevention in Hobbs, Jal, Carlsbad, and Eunice, NM. You will locate and mark facilities, read one-call notices, and collaborate with contractors to prevent excavation damage.

Responsibilities include patrols, inspections, data entry, and contractor oversight. Requires a high school diploma, valid license, and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of experience with DOT Pipeline Safety and Part 195 Regulations.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather.
• Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark facilities per Company Damage Prevention Program and One-Call procedures prior to and during encroachments and excavation.
• Perform pipeline patrols, population density surveys, leak detection surveys and inspections per company procedures.
• Coordinate local Damage Prevention activities.
• Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance with company procedures of excavation activities near pipeline facilities.
• Inspect projects related to excavation near pipeline facilities and repair of pipeline facilities including documentation and contractor oversight.
• Enter and retrieve data to/from Korterra and other applications.
• Manage, coordinate and review projects within area of responsibility.
• Represent the company during contracts with landowners, officials and local organizations.
• Train and oversee company and third-party personnel as required.
• Perform governmental compliance activities.
