Job summary

Randstad Digital Americas in St. Louis, Missouri is seeking a junior Network Engineer for a long-term contract role. You will join a team focused on maintaining and improving network infrastructure, with daily tasks from 9am to 5pm.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree and foundational knowledge of routing, switching, and ITIL. The role offers competitive hourly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of network routing protocols.
• Basic understanding of routing and switching technology, IP, and signaling. Basic knowledge of ITIL framework.
• Basic knowledge of industry trends and products.
• Basic knowledge of waterfall and agile project management processes, tools and techniques.
• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or business.
• Will consider candidates without a degree if they have shown/demonstrated having 2+ years equivalent, relevant experience in tools, systems, and initiatives leveraged by client.

Responsibilities

• Installs basic hardware, systems and software for network and/or security components.
• Builds capability to develop scripts that facilitate network administrative tasks and automate repetitive processes.
• Documents activities, events, materials and issues.
• Prepares system performance or configuration reports as required.
• Updates procedures.
• Provides input regarding processes and procedures that will enhance effectiveness.
• Participates in the evaluation of new hardware and software packages.
• Participates in the implementation of data/system security processes including access controls, monitoring software, and generation of security reports; Assists with troubleshooting network and services performance.
• Monitors network performance and implements performance tuning;
• Performs root cause analysis of simple problems and tracks and reports to supervisor;
• Helps manage and ensure quality of low risk/impact network installations or enhancements (e.g., coordinating meetings, tracking budget, following up on action items);
