Job summary

North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) seeks a Transportation Planner to support land use and mobility planning, bicycle/pedestrian planning, and Safe Routes to School initiatives in the Dallas–Fort Worth region.

Responsibilities include drafting guidance documents, evaluating funding for infrastructure projects, developing multimodal plans, and GIS mapping and analysis using ArcGIS Pro. Requires a Bachelor’s in a relevant field and up to 1 year of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in analytical, quantitative methods (urban/transportation planning, economic development, public administration, etc.).
• One year or less of work-related experience.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro.

Responsibilities

• Drafting for supervisor review, guidance documents and recommendations related to a wide range of transportation/land use planning topics.
• Working with supervisor to evaluate infrastructure projects submitted for funding.
• Developing multimodal roadway corridor, downtown, and Safe Routes to School plans.
• Assisting with data collection and analysis related to land use, demographics, market conditions, and multimodal transportation access.
• Coordinating with city governments, transit agencies, developers, nonprofits, independent school districts, consultants, stakeholders, and the public on transportation projects.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in analytical, quantitative methods (urban/transportation planning, economic development, public administration, etc.)
