Job summary

SGS is seeking a Laboratory Technician – Junior Minerals to perform routine tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics of materials under supervision. You will follow SOPs, prepare subsamples, weigh and digest samples, log client samples, and maintain lab records while ensuring safety and cleanliness in a rotating shift environment.

This entry-level role may require a driver’s license and possibly additional certifications such as MSHA or TWIC depending on location.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• No experience required unless state law dictates otherwise.
• Water lab only: Post-secondary degree in science, or minimum 1 year supervised water testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine laboratory testing following SOPs and methods.
• Prepares subsamples from client samples using defined methods.
• Weighs and digests samples for analysis with relevant equipment.
• Maintains laboratory reports and logs client samples.
• Ensures PPE and safety procedures are followed in the lab.
