Job summary

Envisioneering Inc. is seeking a Junior/Mid-level Software Engineer to join our defense programs in Washington, DC. You will develop Python software for radar data processing, automation, and test support, collaborating with engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions on Windows and Linux systems.

The role requires a BS in engineering or CS and 1+ years of Python experience, plus an active DoD Secret clearance. Periodic travel to test sites and a comprehensive benefits package are included.

Qualifications

• Active U.S. DoD security clearance at Secret level or higher at time of hire.
• Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
• Minimum 1 year professional experience in Python development.
• Demonstrated Python experience relevant to data processing, analysis, automation, and/or test support.
• Experience working in Windows and Linux development/test environments.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Python software for data acquisition, processing, analysis, automation, and test support.
• Develop software to support radar and RF engineering tasks, including data ingestion, analysis, and visualization.
• Integrate with laboratory and field instrumentation when required (e.g., USB, TCP/IP, VISA, serial).
• Work across Windows and Linux platforms; create reproducible deployment and test workflows.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, test engineers, and program managers to translate requirements into testable software solutions.
• Produce documentation, test plans, and user guides; support lab and field test campaigns as needed.
• Adhere to security and programmatic requirements for handling classified information and controlled environments.

Junior/Mid-level Software Engineer - (176)

Location: Washington, DC 20375 US (Primary)

We are seeking a Python software developer to join our team supporting defense‑related programs. The ideal candidate holds at least a BS in Engineering or Computer Science, has 1‑3 years of professional experience in Python development, and holds an active U.S. security clearance at Secret level or higher. Work will involve software development for radar/RF systems, data processing and analysis, automation, and instrument integration in mixed Windows and Linux environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain Python software for data acquisition, processing, analysis, automation, and test support.
• Develop software to support radar and RF engineering tasks, including data ingestion, analysis, and visualization.
• Integrate with laboratory and field instrumentation when required (e.g., USB, TCP/IP, VISA, serial).
• Work across Windows and Linux platforms; create reproducible deployment and test workflows.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, test engineers, and program managers to translate requirements into testable software solutions.
• Produce documentation, test plans, and user guides; support lab and field test campaigns as needed.
• Adhere to security and programmatic requirements for handling classified information and controlled environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience on military programs, especially Navy programs.
• Experience with signal processing libraries (NumPy, SciPy), plotting/visualization (matplotlib, seaborn, Bokeh), and data formats used in test labs (HDF5, binary formats).
• Experience with version control, GitLab, CI/CD, packaging, and test automation.
• Experience with C++ and associated tools (gcc/intel compilers, cmake, Visual Studio, etc.)
• Experience with real‑time or embedded systems and/or FPGA toolchains.
• Familiarity with security and compliance processes for classified programs.

Minimum Skills/Qualifications (Required):

• Active U.S. DoD security clearance at Secret level or higher at time of hire.
• Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
• Minimum 1 year professional experience in Python development.
• Demonstrated Python experience relevant to data processing, analysis, automation, and/or test support. Experience with instrument control is a plus.
• Experience working in both Windows and Linux development/test environments.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

TRAVEL: Role may require periodic travel to test sites, shipboard environments, or customer facilities.

EDUCATION: BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related technical field.
