Job summary

Allient Inc. is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our core engineering team in Salem, Oregon.

You will work closely with an experienced engineer, participating in every phase from concept to manufacturing and contributing to high-tech product development. You will create 3D models in SolidWorks, assist with design and assemblies, and help prepare manufacturing drawings while supporting prototypes and tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or graduating within the next few months).
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated with a willingness to ask questions and learn.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
• Experience with machining or fabrication.
• Knowledge of GD&T.
• 3D printing or prototype experience.
• Internship or Formula SAE, Baja, robotics, or similar engineering project experience.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks
• Assist with product design and mechanical assemblies
• Prepare manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation
• Support prototype builds and testing
• Work with machine shops and manufacturing partners
• Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions
• Help troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues
• Learn practical engineering methods used in real-world product development
