Job summary

MTN Engineering is looking for an early-career Mechanical Engineer who wants exposure to both engineering design and the real-world operation of building systems. You’ll work on mechanical and plumbing design, visit construction sites, participate in equipment startup and commissioning, and troubleshoot HVAC and control systems.

You will collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors and owners, and gain experience in field reports, commissioning documentation and problem solving while

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Located in Southern California and able to travel to project sites.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Organized and comfortable managing multiple assignments.
• Interest in HVAC, plumbing, controls and building systems.
• Willingness to work both in the office/home and in the field.
• Construction, HVAC, controls, Revit or commissioning experience is a plus, but not required.
• EIT certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support HVAC and plumbing design projects.
• Assist with load calculations, equipment selections, plans and specifications.
• Perform commissioning field observations and functional testing.
• Review equipment startup, TAB and controls operation.
• Assist with troubleshooting HVAC and building automation systems.
• Review submittals and construction documents.
• Prepare field reports, commissioning documentation and issue logs.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors and owners.
• Manage multiple assignments and communicate proactively with the project team.
