Job summary

Progressive Machine & Design Llc in the United States seeks a Mechanical Engineer I to research, plan, and design stations and machines using calculations and established principles to create semi/fully automated assembly and test systems.

The role requires SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Word and Excel proficiency, plus an associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience, with travel up to 5%.

Qualifications

• Associates or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Word/Excel and internet research.

Responsibilities

• Researches and analyzes data such as customer request for quote, customer specifications, and PMD’s proposal to determine feasibility of design or application.
• Work within design hour constraints, schedule constraints, and overall machine budget constraints.
• Collaborate to ensure designs are cost effective and meet customer requirements.
• Develop/review concepts to meet performance metrics including cycle time, yield, uptime, CPK and Gage R&R.
• Design mechanisms, stations, machines using 3D modeling software (SolidWorks).
• Work with vendors to obtain competitive quotes for major purchased components.
• Create detailed fabrication drawings for all custom designed parts.
• Create detailed assembly drawings identifying each component
• Create a complete Bill of Material for each design/station.
• Release completed designs to Project Management
• Support fabrication, assembly, debug and machine qualification activities to ensure design conforms to customer requirements and specifications
• Observe safety procedures.
