Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Mechanical Development & Test Engineer I to support the design, build, and execution of internal test capabilities for satellite components and systems.

You will assist with qualification and acceptance tests, collaborate with senior engineers, and document procedures while ensuring safety and quality standards are met. This role offers hands-on testing, CAD familiarity, and growth within Rocket Lab's Space Systems division.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• 0+ years of experience in mechanical testing (internships acceptable).
• Familiarity with CAD software such as NX or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in qualification and acceptance test campaigns.
• Develop and maintain test infrastructure and equipment.
• Perform hands-on assembly/disassembly of test setups and instrumentation.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure safety and design compliance.
• Document test procedures, results and lessons learned.
• Troubleshoot issues during testing under guidance of seniors.
• Ensure safety and quality standards during test operations.
