Job summary

Rocket Lab USA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Test Engineer I to own end-to-end design, build, test, and execution of advanced test capabilities for spacecraft hardware at our Long Beach HQ. You will lead qualification campaigns, develop high-volume test infrastructure, and guide future test capabilities while working closely with design teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering plus 5+ years in aerospace, with hands-on experience in MGSE, test automation, and data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of aerospace engineering experience.
• Experience with NX Nastran, NX CAD, and Teamcenter.
• Experience with environmental testing of components/systems.
• Experience with test automation and post-test data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead qualification test campaigns.
• Lead high-volume test infrastructure development and insertion into production floor.
• Advise on in-house test capabilities and future needs.
• Manage test projects end-to-end including resourcing, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Hands-on work with test infrastructure implementation and validation.
• Collaborate with design and other test engineers to iterate concepts and define test requirements.
• Design complex Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) for test setups.
