Job summary

Michaud Cooley Erickson in Minneapolis is seeking a Designer/Engineer in Training to learn the foundations of designing mechanical systems. You will take tasks and begin to work on them independently under the direction of the Project Manager.

This entry level role focuses on basic design calculations, floor plan layouts, equipment sizing, and drafting using design software; you will collaborate with design partners and contribute to construction documents.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years' experience
• Understanding of mechanical systems basics
• Proficiency with MS Office applications

Responsibilities

• Develop basic design calculations.
• Follow MCE design standards and production standards.
• Perform basic distribution layout and equipment sizing for commodity items.
• Create floor plan layouts for system distribution.
• Coordinate space and clearance with design partners.
• Produce equipment schedules for commodity items.
• Draft basic schematic diagrams such as plumbing isometrics and electrical risers.
• Understand project specifications and applicable codes.
• Use design software to set up project sheets and draft conditions from sketches.
