Job Description
Purpose
The purpose of this position is to assist and support NEP Broadcast Services in the mechanical design of broadcast and production systems at NEP’s Systems Integration facility.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of new or existing systems/facilities, specializing in television mobile unit trailers, Fly Pack, and Studio systems. This includes digitizing physical objects and assemblies from existing drawings, publishing documents from relevant CAD drawings, and preparing modifications of designs.
- Read, evaluate, and interpret designs and drawings.
- Digitize physical objects and generate assemblies from existing drawings.
- Assist in producing drawing packages from various disciplines, including structural, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, interior and console design, as well as architectural materials and finishes.
- Provide technical information and documentation to all parties involved in the projects.
- Assist in developing 2D and 3D drawing packages and instructions as required.
- Collaborate with the design team, mechanical and technical supervisors, and project coordinators to develop and verify designs, order necessary materials, and ensure inventory is available for implementation.
- Work closely with the system design and engineering teams to implement designs, and assist with continuous improvement, design validation, and component organization.
- Visit project sites or shop floors to R&D designs, assess progress, and assist with troubleshooting, testing, implementation, and design improvements as necessary.
Position Requirements
- Completion of an Associate's or Technical Degree from an accredited Design, Technology, or Engineering school.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor required.
- Strong Mac/PC skills (Microsoft Office operating systems) and proficient knowledge of networking.
- Ability to work on tasks and projects independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
- Capability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Limited travel may be required based on project needs.
