Job summary

Traeger, Inc. in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our APRD team. This early‑career role offers hands‑on design experience from concept sketches to working prototypes.

You will work with senior engineers, develop CAD models (SolidWorks), and apply DFM/DFA principles while using fabrication tools to build and test prototypes.

A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience is required; occasional travel and a portfolio are welcome.

Qualifications

• Fundamental understanding and previous experience in mechanical engineering.
• Background in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), prototyping, and a strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles.
• Hands‑on experience with fabrication tools.
• Willingness to travel.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside our senior mechanical engineers, supporting new product development from early concept through prototyping.
• Apply fundamental mechanical engineering principles to help evaluate and refine design concepts.
• Build and iterate on CAD models, applying Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFM/DFA) thinking to keep designs practical to produce.
• Get hands‑on with fabrication tools to build and test prototypes—from rough mock-ups to more refined builds.
• Run structured testing, competitor benchmarking, subsystem proof-outs, and evaluation of cooking performance and thermal properties to validate designs with data.
• Bring a strong drive to learn, asking questions and picking up new skills, tools, and processes quickly.
• Support cross-functional collaboration with industrial design, electrical engineering, and manufacturing partners.
• Travel as needed to support supplier visits, prototype builds, and new product introduction.
