Job summary

Kelly Services in Troy, MI seeks a Junior Product Development Engineer for a contract role. You will design mechanical parts and systems, prototype and test them, and collaborate with European teams on automated machinery projects. Proficiency in NX is required, Windchill a plus, and some FEA/CFD knowledge is desirable.

You will work under senior engineers and participate in launches, while contributing to DFMEA and design validation activities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years’ experience with mechanism or part design for automation products or machinery.
• Proficient with NX; Windchill is a plus for file management.
• Knowledge of FEA/CFD coursework or hands-on experience.
• Prototyping skills (3D printing, assembly, fabrication, or machining).
• Strong technical writing and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Designs and updates mechanical systems for new applications and cost savings.
• Participate in product launches via FMEA, DVP&Rs, and 8D methodologies.
• Prototype, test, validate and verify functionality of engineering designs.
• Collaborate with local and European teams, electrical engineering, machine shop, and production.
• Attend periodic virtual meetings with European team scheduled at 6AM or 7AM.
