Job summary

Actalent in Oxnard, CA is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer / Manufacturing Design Engineer. You will turn customer requirements into manufacturable designs using SolidWorks, creating 3D models and 2D drawings for parts and tooling, with shop-floor exposure to see designs built.

This mentor-led role develops CAD skills, drafting, and understanding of manufacturing processes, with growth toward Manufacturing/Design Engineer II.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 0–2 years of engineering, design, or manufacturing experience.
• Strong SolidWorks skills with 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
• Ability to produce clear, manufacturable drawings and documentation.
• Understanding of sheet metal design principles.
• Proven ownership of projects or initiatives.
• Attention to detail and organized engineering records.
• Independent and collaborative in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear communication with engineers and machinists.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks for new products and tooling.
• ReviewCustomer drawings and specs to design process flows and tooling layouts.
• Issue and revise drawings, specifications, and work instructions for production.
• Provide CAD support to manufacturing, sales, and customers to troubleshoot and optimize designs.
• Maintain engineering records, CAD files, and revision histories.
• Spend regular time on the shop floor to observe prototypes becoming parts.
• Support tooling development and process improvements from floor feedback.
• Contribute to cost reduction, quality improvements, and cycle-time reductions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Communicate design intent clearly with engineers and machinists.
