Basic Functions

Junior Maintenance Technician will provide day-to-day troubleshooting and repairs to the managed farms as assigned. Work will involve building maintenance, equipment repair, carpentry, masonry, and other farm repairs. This position will be supervised closely and will assist Maintenance Leads/Specialists.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Participate in maintenance walk-throughs with Lead at farms for preventative maintenance programs.
• Work directly with Lead on maintenance projects.
• Perform maintenance on PSM Farms as assigned.
• Complete repairs involving building maintenance and equipment repair.
• Identify and note other necessary repairs at farms and report them to the Maintenance Lead.
• Follow company biosecurity protocols and ensure outside contractors do the same.
• Work in a safe manner and ensure employees and contractors do as well.
• Complete and adhere to all company safety programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Work Experience

• Some experience or relevant education/training in maintenance or related field.
• Mechanical aptitude/interest.

Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to work with a team and follow directions.
• Be efficient in time management and stay on task until daily assignments are complete.
• Willingness to learn and develop skills in using tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments.
• Communicate effectively with farm managers, farm employees, and maintenance management staff.
• Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
• Ability to travel as needed on a daily basis.
• Requires valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Mental and Physical Requirements

• Ability to work at a fast pace.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to stand, bend, crawl, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently as needed.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
