Lumber List Express, a family-owned estimating company, seeks a Junior Lumber Estimator for its Mooresville, NC office. The role targets candidates with construction knowledge, plan interpretation, and willingness to learn commercial lumber estimating.

You will work with senior estimators on large wood-frame projects, performing lumber takeoffs, and using Excel and estimating software. Training is available, and compensation is based on experience and skills.

Formación

Lumber List Express is a family-owned construction estimating company with more than 30 years of experience specializing in lumber quantity takeoffs for large commercial wood-frame projects.

We work with lumber companies, framing contractors, and developers throughout the country. Our projects include multifamily housing, hotels, assisted living facilities, and other large wood-framed buildings, often ranging from hundreds of thousands of square feet to projects involving millions of dollars in lumber and building materials.

We are looking for a Junior Lumber Estimator to join our Mooresville, NC office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with construction, framing, blueprint-reading, or estimating experience who wants to develop a career in commercial construction estimating.

What You'll Do

• Read and interpret commercial construction drawings and architectural plans.
• Perform detailed lumber quantity takeoffs for large wood-framed projects.
• Review plans and specifications carefully to identify materials and quantities.
• Enter and organize takeoff information using Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
• Work with senior estimators and follow established estimating procedures.
• Compare drawings and revisions and identify changes that may affect material quantities.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and detailed project information.
• Communicate with team members to clarify project requirements and resolve questions.
• Develop your knowledge of commercial wood-frame construction and lumber estimating.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, or demonstrated ability to learn.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and established procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Dependable, organized, and willing to learn.

Preferred:

• Construction, framing, lumber, or estimating experience.
• Experience with construction estimating or quantity takeoffs.
• Experience with PlanSwift or other estimating/takeoff software.

A degree is not required. We are more interested in your construction knowledge, ability to read plans, attention to detail, computer skills, and willingness to learn.

Training & Advancement

You will work alongside experienced estimators and learn our processes for estimating large commercial wood-frame projects. We are willing to train the right person who has a strong construction foundation, good computer skills, and the ability to learn our estimating methods.

Candidates may be asked to complete a skills assessment as part of the interview process. Compensation will be based on experience, skills, and demonstrated estimating ability.
