Job summary

United States Sugar Corp is seeking a Junior Lead Trackman to support daily track maintenance and repair activities in the Sugar Cane Operations division. You will assist in leading a crew, ensure safety, and coordinate with Railroad Operations.

The role requires a solid understanding of track components, experience in railroad track maintenance, and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends. Florida license and safety training are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in railroad track maintenance.
• Valid Florida Class E driver's license.
• Working knowledge of FRA Track Safety Standards (49 CFR 213) and industry safety standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficient in radio communications and coordinating with Dispatcher and/or Yardmaster.
• Proficient in reading/writing in English.
• Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.

Responsibilities

The Junior Lead Trackman is responsible for supporting the Lead Trackman in daily track maintenance and repair activities. This position requires a solid understanding of track components and tools, as well as the ability to assist in leading a crew and ensuring safety compliance. The Junior Lead Trackman plays a key role in helping the team complete work safely, efficiently, and to standard.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily track maintenance and repair tasks including rail replacement, tie changes, surfacing, and tamping.
• Must be able to operate a Material Truck and other Roadway Maintenance Machines (RMM) proficiently, when required.
• Must be able to perform daily inspections and operator care maintenance processes associated with the Material Truck and RMM in accordance with manufacturers requirements.
• Must be able to assist mechanic when required.
• Ability to coordinate work and communicate with Railroad Operations.
• Support the Senior Lead Trackman in coordinating crew activities and promoting a safe work environment.
• Help with material handling and site preparation.
• Identify and report track defects and unsafe conditions.
• Conduct job briefings and follow all safety procedures.
• Assist in maintaining accurate records of work performed.
• Be available to support work during nights, weekends, and emergency situations as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in railroad track maintenance.
• Must have a valid Florida Class E driver’s license.
• Working knowledge of FRA Track Safety Standards (49 CFR 213) and industry safety standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Must be proficient in communications via radio and able to obtain proper track protection from Dispatcher and/or Yardmaster.
• Must have the basic working ability utilizing desktop/laptop/thin client computers in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. and other computer programs.
• Must have successfully completed the TOST and/or Ramsey Test.
• No active disciplinary action and a good work history.
• Must successfully complete any required orientation, training, and continuing education courses including the following, with a score of 85% or higher:

    • Railroad Operating Rules
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
• Must be proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
