Job summary

The Latent Print Examiner Trainee position at Volusia Sheriff's Office performs progressively technical law enforcement work in the classification, collection, and comparison of latent fingerprints, under direct supervision. Qualifications

• Associate's degree in criminal justice, forensic science, or related field.
• Must obtain certification as a Latent Print Examiner through the IAI within eighteen (18) months and maintain it as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Compare latent fingerprints with those on file.
• Prepare written supplementary case reports stating findings.
• Gives sworn testimony on fingerprint results and maintains chain of custody of evidence.
• Fingerprint individuals as needed and process evidence for latent fingerprints.
• Attend work regularly and adhere to applicable laws and policies.
