Job description

Johnston Vidal Projects has an immediate opening for a Junior Landscape Designer.

The Designer will work with our Design Team to assist in taking our projects from concept to completion. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is at the start of growing their career. Reporting to the Managing Partners and Lead Designers, responsibilities include developing design concepts, drafting construction/permit documents and details in AutoCAD, creating 3D renderings to convey design intent, and researching building code and other permitting requirements.

Qualified Applicants Must Demonstrate
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and professional experience.
  • At least 2-4 years of experience in a related role in an office environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and self-motivate.
  • In-depth knowledge of landscape architecture design principles, construction methods, and sustainable practices.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software, such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office Suite. Rhino and Lumion a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong graphic communication skills, including sketching, rendering, and proficiency in digital media and software. Creative problem-solving and technical design abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, a sense of humor required!
  • Must be permanently permitted to work in the United States.
Location
  • Based in Los Angeles
  • Studio in Atwater Village
  • Onsite/field time with some occasional travel
