Job summary

Spectrum IT Recruitment seeks an IT Support Engineer in Winchester to join a small IT team supporting a family-owned UK home and business moving company. The role is focused on 1st and 2nd line support, ensuring systems, devices and services run smoothly.

You'll handle a mix of tickets and hands-on troubleshooting, supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID and Exchange, and setting up user accounts, permissions and group policies.

Qualifications

• At least 24 months' IT experience with Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2022 and Microsoft 365 cloud environments, or relevant IT certifications.
• Proven ability to provide 1st and 2nd line support and maintain user productivity.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1st and 2nd line support to users across the business.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, Windows and connectivity issues.
• Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID and Exchange.
• Set up user accounts, permissions, email and group policies.
• Support laptops, workstations, printers, mobile devices and telephony.
• Investigate network and system issues and escalate when needed.
• Assist with updates, patches, backups and IT equipment deployments.
• Maintain IT asset records and technical documentation.

IT Support Engineer

Winchester 28,000- 35,000 Fully Onsite

You'll join a small IT team supporting a large, family-owned UK home and business moving company. The role is primarily focused on 1st and 2nd line support, dealing with everyday user issues while taking responsibility for keeping systems, devices and services running smoothly.

The Role

You'll handle a mix of support tickets, walk-up requests and hands‑on troubleshooting across the business. Some issues will be straightforward, while others will need you to investigate further and use your own judgement to find a solution.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1st and 2nd line support to users across the business.
• Troubleshooting hardware, software, Windows and connectivity issues.
• Supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID and Exchange.
• Setting up user accounts, permissions, email and group policies.
• Supporting laptops, workstations, printers, mobile devices and telephony.
• Investigating network and system issues, escalating where needed.
• Assisting with updates, patching, backups and IT equipment deployments.
• Maintaining IT asset records and technical documentation.
• Helping with wider IT systems and infrastructure when required.

You'll need to manage competing priorities, communicate clearly with colleagues and take a practical approach to resolving problems. As part of a small team, being organised and comfortable working independently will be important.

What We're Looking For

You’ll need either:

• At least 24 months' relevant IT experience working with Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2022 and Microsoft 365 cloud environments; or
• Relevant recognised IT certifications.

The Package

• Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
• 20 days' holiday plus bank holidays
• Pension available where applicable
• Occasional travel between sites may be required
