Job summary

Hydrite is seeking a Junior IT Application Developer to build and maintain internal business systems in Brookfield, WI. You will work with AI tools to accelerate troubleshooting, speed up code reviews, and deliver reliable applications under senior guidance.

The role focuses on feature development, defect resolution, and user support, with a strong emphasis on learning and applying AI coding tools while maintaining quality and security standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 1–3 years of hands-on development experience; internships, co-ops, and entry-level roles count.
• Experience with at least one programming language (C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python), plus basic SQL and Git.
• Openness to AI coding tools and a willingness to learn prompt-driven development while owning the quality of the result.
• Very good technical learning ability, with the capacity to pick up new tools and concepts quickly.
• Proven problem-solving skills, including the ability to break problems down and test proposed solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain ideas clearly and write concise updates.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain internal applications and features.
• Diagnose and fix defects, verifying resolution with the requestor.
• Write clean, simple code and unit tests with guidance from senior developers.
• Participate in code reviews, both as author and reviewer.
• Work closely with analysts and end users to understand requests and clarify requirements.
• Communicate status, obstacles, and completion clearly and proactively.
