Job summary

Peraton in Annapolis Junction, MD seeks a Jr Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to support a DoD customer onsite. The role emphasizes security architecture aligned with RMF, STIGs, CIS benchmarks, and enterprise policies across Windows, Linux, cloud, virtualization, and container environments.

Responsibilities include vulnerability management with Nessus, ACAS, and Qualys; incident response and forensic analysis using Splunk Enterprise; automation using PowerShell, Bash, and Python; and

Qualifications

• Requires DoD 8570.1-M/8140 IAT Level III certification (SecurityX CASP, GCIH, CISA, CISSP)
• Active TS/SCI clearance required
• Experience with networking, cloud security, Kubernetes and DevSecOps
• Proficiency with security tooling: Nessus, CyberArk, Splunk, and virtualization platforms

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise security architecture aligned with RMF/ STIGs and DoD policies
• Perform security engineering across the SDLC including requirements analysis, design reviews, security testing, and accreditation support
• Execute vulnerability management using Nessus, ACAS, and Qualys to identify and remediate gaps
• Integrate cybersecurity requirements into Windows/Linux servers, cloud, virtualization, and container environments
• Support incident response and forensics using Splunk Enterprise and related tooling
• Develop automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to streamline remediation and monitoring
• Collaborate with admins, ISSOs, and application teams to remediate findings and harden configurations
• Conduct security impact analyses for changes and deployments to maintain compliance
• Engineer endpoint protection and hardening solutions (Trellix ePO, host-based controls)
• Evaluate cybersecurity tools to advance protection, monitoring, and threat detection
• Produce security documentation, architecture diagrams, SOPs, and risk assessments
