Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a motivated Junior Interior Soft Trim Engineer to support the design, development, and release of interior soft trim components for vehicle programs. Ideal candidates will have 1–3 years of automotive interior engineering experience and a basic understanding of soft trim materials and manufacturing processes.

The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, reviewing drawings and 3D models, and supporting prototype builds and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of automotive engineering experience, preferably with interior components.
• Basic understanding of automotive interior systems and soft trim components.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D CAD models.
• Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced engineering environment.
• Willingness to support vehicle builds and occasional travel to supplier or manufacturing locations.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of automotive interior soft trim components from concept through production.
• Assist with engineering activities for components such as door trim, instrument panels, headliners, carpets, floor coverings, seat trim, pillars, and other soft interior components.
• Review engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications, and design requirements.
• Support component packaging, fit, finish, and interface requirements.
• Work with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
• Assist with design reviews, prototype builds, testing, and validation activities.
• Support engineering changes, documentation, and component release activities.
• Review and help resolve issues related to appearance, dimensional accuracy, fit, and functionality.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities for design and production issues.
• Coordinate with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Materials, and Supplier Engineering teams.
• Support vehicle build activities and help identify and resolve issues during prototype and production phases.

We are seeking a motivated Junior Interior Soft Trim Engineer to support the design, development, and release of interior soft trim components for vehicle programs. Key Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of automotive interior soft trim components from concept through production.
• Assist with engineering activities for components such as door trim, instrument panels, headliners, carpets, floor coverings, seat trim, pillars, and other soft interior components.
• Review engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications, and design requirements.
• Support component packaging, fit, finish, and interface requirements.
• Work with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve design and manufacturing issues.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of materials such as leather, vinyl, fabric, foam, carpet, and other interior trim materials.
• Familiarity with CATIA, NX, Teamcenter, or similar CAD/PLM tools.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as sewing, wrapping, molding, thermoforming, and adhesive bonding.
• Experience supporting prototype or production vehicle builds.

Experience Level

• 1–3 years of relevant automotive engineering experience
