Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) Integration Engineering team in California. You will lead subsystems and coordinate with senior staff to manage risks, DMSMS cases, and out-year plans, ensuring smooth transition of TP/DP systems into SFRC OM&S baseline.

The role focuses on developing acquisition documentation, defining requirements for TPD contracts, and coordinating with Government customers and SFRC stakeholders while applying Systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or related STEM field.
  • 0–2 years of systems engineering experience (Requirements, Test, etc.).
  • Fundamental knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and SE processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead systems engineer for LTRS subsystem(s) under guidance of senior staff.
  • Track risks, anomalies, and DMSMS cases; support out-year spend plans.
  • Provide integration support from contract award to transition of TPD systems.

Job description

Company Overview:
Amentum/Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) operates, maintains, and sustains mission-critical systems that comprise the Launch Test Range System (LTRS) in support of the launch, test, and track of DoD, civil, commercial, and international space lift vehicles. The Engineering Department performs sustainment and modernization tasks in support of SFRC requirements. This position will support the Integration Engineering department, which includes Lead Systems Engineering over subsystems and Project Integration.


Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a Lead Systems Engineer (LSE)for assigned LTRS subsystem(s) under the guidance of senior staff, assisting with the tracking and management of risks, subsystem anomalies, and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) cases.
  • Assist in developingout-year plans (spend plans) and compiling data for Government funding inputs to address subsystem needs.
  • Provide project integration supportfrom contract award through the final transition of Third-Party Developer (TPD) systems into the SFRC OM&S baseline.
  • Support the developmentof acquisition documentation (e.g., SOO, SOW, PWS) for TPD procurements and assist in Request for Proposal (RFP) development.
  • Assist in defining and writingrequirements for TPD contracts based on capabilities and operating concepts in support of SLD30.
  • Participate in coordinationefforts with Government customers and internal SFRC stakeholders.
  • Support risk managementactivities by helping identify and assess subsystem and LTRS risks.
  • SupportLTRS Risk Management Working Groups and Risk and Opportunity Management Boards (ROMBs).
  • Assist in overseeingthe transition and integration of new or modified systems to ensure they meet SFRC OM&S standards.
  • Support the executionof systems engineering processes to ensure continuity across the SFRC.
  • Assist in developingtraining tools and documentation for transitioning systems.

Required Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related STEM field.
  • 0–2 yearsof systems engineering experience (Requirements, Test, Specialty Engineering, Project Integration, Subsystem Lifecycle Management, or Systems Architecture) or a related field.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and systems engineering processes.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or academic project experience in systems integration or aerospace/defense.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., Cameo).
  • Project Management experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Flexibility to work occasional non-standard hours or weekends to support mission requirements.
  • Though this position does not require frequent travel, the ability to travel is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance (requires U.S. citizenship).
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

The annual starting salary for this position is between $75,000–$80,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

$75,000 - $80,000 annually
