Job summary

Technergetics in Rome, NY seeks an Integrated Photonics Engineer I to contribute to research and development of photonic devices for quantum information applications. The role involves working under senior engineers, performing design, simulation, and integration tasks on-site at AFRL and Innovare Advancement Center.

The position targets entry-level engineers with a Bachelor's in physics or related field, a foundational knowledge of quantum optics, and a willingness to learn photonic design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics, applied physics, or closely related technical field.
• 1 year of professional or research experience; internships or coursework welcomed in place of experience.
• Basic familiarity with photonic device design concepts from coursework, research, or lab work.
• Willingness to learn photonic device design software on the job.
• Foundational knowledge of quantum optics and quantum information science.

Responsibilities

• Assist with research to develop key components of a wide-area quantum network under senior engineers.
• Assist design, simulation, and optimization of integrated photonic devices and circuits for QIP, sensing, and communication.
• Support design of photonic circuits that support quantum algorithms and protocols.
• Assist integration of photonics with light sources, detectors, and control systems.
• Support system-level design for data transfer, processing, and quantum entanglement.
