Job summary

Essential Employment Services Inc is seeking a Junior Business and Employment Counsel in Phoenix, AZ to provide practical legal advice across business, contract, corporate, and employment matters. Working with HR, operations, and finance, you will assess risk, negotiate agreements, guide workplace decisions, and help maintain compliance across multiple states.

The ideal candidate has a JD, is admitted to the Arizona Bar, and up to three years of related experience, with strong writing,

Qualifications

Juris Doctor degree and AZ State Bar in good standing.
Up to three years of experience in business, employment, or corporate law.
Strong research, drafting, negotiation, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate vendor and commercial agreements.
Advise on contract interpretation, risk, and compliance.
Support corporate governance, licenses, due diligence, and transactions.
Assist with privacy, IP, records retention, and regulatory matters.
Advise HR on employee relations, including performance, discipline, and policy interpretation.
Conduct or advise on workplace investigations.
Research and translate laws into practical recommendations.
Draft employment agreements, policies, notices, and related materials.
Assist with EEOC/state agency responses and wage/hour matters.
Manage assigned claims in coordination with stakeholders.
Deliver training on legal requirements to HR and managers.
