Job summary

Weston & Sampson is seeking an entry-level Hydrologist with 0-5 years of experience for our Water discipline in MA or NH offices. The Hydrologist will model surface water systems, support stormwater design, and prepare mapping revisions while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver resilient infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have a BS in civil/environmental engineering, GIS skills, and a willingness to travel regionally.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field is required.
• MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering is a plus.
• EIT or ability to pass exam within six months preferred.
• Experience with hydrologic (HydroCAD, HEC-HMS) and hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS, SWMM) is preferred.
• Experience with GIS analyses is required.
• Willingness to travel to New England, mid-Atlantic and Carolinas.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analyses of surface water systems, including watersheds, rivers, and lakes.
• Model and support design of stormwater BMPs, green infrastructure, and LID projects.
• Prepare Letter of Map Revision applications.
• Become proficient with HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and PCSWMM.
• Work independently and communicate results to a multidisciplinary team.
• Prepare clear written and verbal summaries for technical and lay audiences.
• Conduct field work to gather measurements and observations for model development.
• Travel to client meetings and project sites within New England and beyond.
