Job summary

Weston & Sampson is seeking an entry-level Hydrologist in our Water discipline for our MA or NH offices. You will work on hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, stormwater design support, and field data collection with travel across New England.

Requirements include a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field, familiarity with HydroCAD/HEC-HMS/HEC-RAS/SWMM, GIS analyses, and 0–5 years of experience. EIT is preferred, and travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or similar degree is required.
MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, or similar degree is a plus.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to pass exam within the first six months of employment is preferred.
Experience with hydrologic (HydroCAD, HEC-HMS) and hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS, SWMM) is preferred
Experience with GIS analyses and mapping is required.
Experience modeling and designing stormwater BMPs is a plus.
Experience modeling and designing green infrastructure and LID projects is a plus.
0 to 5 years of experience and familiarity with surface water hydrology and hydraulics.
Interest in evaluation and computer-aided modeling of surface water systems.
Willing to collaborate remotely with coworkers in other office locations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational/time management skills are required.
Willing/able to participate in field investigations; some travel within New England; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

Conduct analyses and computer-aided evaluations of surface water systems including watersheds, rivers, and lakes.
Model and support design of stormwater BMPs, green infrastructure, and LID projects.
Prepare Letter of Map Revision applications.
Become proficient with HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and PCSWMM.
Work independently and communicate results to a multidisciplinary team.
Prepare written and verbal summaries of technical material for technical and lay audiences.
Conduct field work to gather measurements and observations for model development.
Some travel to client meetings and project sites within New England.
