Job summary

Prairie Central Junior High School seeks a paraprofessional to support certified staff in the classroom and assist with instructional activities. You will help reinforce core subjects, support assessments, and contribute to a positive learning environment for all students.

Under direct supervision, you will also participate in non-instructional duties such as supervising lunch, bus, playground areas, and field trips, and assist with parent contact and inclusion of students with special needs.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with students with special needs desirable.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer instruction.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests, and assessments.
• Assist with classroom preparations and instructional materials.
• Maintain records of student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavior management to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
