Job summary

The Prairie Central CUSD #8 district seeks a paraprofessional at Prairie Central Upper Elementary to support certified staff and assist students with reading, math, and other activities. The role involves small-group instruction, class prep, behavior support, and supervision during lunch, bus, and field trips, with opportunities to contribute to curriculum development.

Under supervision, you will document student progress, communicate with families, and help create an inclusive learning

Qualifications

• Typical qualifications would be equivalent to the above.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Prior experience working with students with special needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Help with record-keeping to document student progress and performance.
• Support classroom behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise non-instructional areas such as lunch, bus duty, playground, and study halls.
