Upper Grade Campus Teacher (7-12, subject-specific)
Position Objective: To shepherd a classroom of students and teach in a subject-specific capacity with excellent classroom management skills, self-control, a passion for the subject matter, effective time management to complete lessons within a one-hour class block, and strong communication skills (both verbal and written) to build relationships with staff, students, and parents.
Teaching Details: Teaching various subjects such as Bible, Math, History, and Language Arts for grades 7-12. Courses are pre-scheduled and paced. Teachers are expected to complete lesson plans suitable for their classroom during their campus day. No homework is to be assigned for students to take home. Strong classroom management is essential. Willingness to substitute and a positive attitude are preferred. Emphasis on encouragement both educationally and spiritually. Regular communication with the director of education, campus director, and parents is crucial.
Teachers typically choose two to three subjects they are passionate about and confident teaching. Class blocks are assigned based on experience and interest. Multiple classes of grades 7-9 allow repetition of content across different groups.
Class sizes range from 22-25 students.
Campus Days Commitments: Mondays and Wednesdays, 8 am to 2 pm, from August to May. Teachers will be given a schedule for classroom coverage. Light grading and communication outside class hours are expected, along with about 30 minutes per week for staff or parent meetings.
Assessments and Grading: Weekly submission of lesson plans; some assignments graded at home and noted on lesson plans. Report cards are issued in January and June, with an optional November evening open house. Grades are entered into an online system in real-time. Grades reflect combined home and campus work; they are not submitted to the state. Comments on student progress and character development are included.
Training and Annual Obligations: Mandatory training occurs in early August and quarterly as needed. No childcare is provided during training. Virtual certifications and training are communicated beforehand, with completion required by the first day of school. Weekly team meetings and events are scheduled, and participation in company events is encouraged.
Weekly Requirements: Provide content for parent emails, update attendance and behavior records, and communicate with parents during designated office hours. Connecting with parents is prioritized to support student character development.
Additional Opportunities: Homeroom Teacher responsible for lesson plans and grades; Lead Teacher as a classroom advocate and curriculum contributor; Full-Day Teacher for those comfortable teaching multiple subjects and managing a full schedule, arriving at 7:45 am and teaching four subjects with a prep period.
