Job summary

Danville Community School District is seeking a JH Baseball Head Coach for the summer season at Danville High School. The coach will plan and oversee the junior high baseball program, design age‑appropriate training, and promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and student‑athlete development.

Responsibilities include practice planning, game day management, safety, equipment oversight, and collaboration with the Activities Director. Iowa coaching license is required; prior coaching is preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid Iowa Coaching License required.
• Previous coaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of baseball fundamentals, rules, and coaching techniques.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student‑athletes.
• Commitment to promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and player development.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and Player Development: design and implement effective and age‑appropriate training programs.
• Program Administration: coordinate practices, schedules, and equipment with the Activities Director.
• Game Day Responsibilities: lead warmups, in‑game decisions, and provide feedback to players.
• Recruitment and Retention: recruit and retain student‑athletes for the baseball program.
• Mentorship and Leadership: serve as a positive role model and mentor to assistants.
• Communication: maintain open communication with players, parents, and administrators.
