Job summary

Sikeston Public Schools is seeking an assistant junior high athletic coach for the 2026-2027 Extra Duty period. The role reports to the Athletic Director and supports the overall district athletic program in line with MSHSAA rules and district procedures.

The position requires adherence to policies, ability to assist the head coach, attend meetings, and perform various duties related to sports programs. A background check and drug test are required, with responsibilities aligned to the

Qualifications

• Prior coaching experience is desired.
• Must pass a background check and drug test.
• Understanding and support of the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.

Responsibilities

• Implement the Student Activities Program Procedures Guide and the policies/goals therein.
• Complete MSHSAA rules meeting as required.
• Support the head athletic coach in conducting the athletic program and the total athletic program in general.
• Be loyal to the head coach and to the team.
• Attend staff meetings when called by the head coach.
• Carry out duties assigned by the head athletic coach related to the athletic program (drills, equipment, eligibility, student manager, public relations, statistics).
• In the absence of the head athletic coach, assume their responsibilities.
