Job summary

Teradyne, the global test and automation specialists, seeks a Junior Hardware Verification Engineer in California. In this entry-level role you will learn to develop and release product test and verification software, collaborating with hardware, software, firmware, and manufacturing teams to validate new products.

You will apply test methods to verify functionality, write automated test code in C# and C++ for Windows and embedded Linux, and contribute to verification practices across the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Foundational understanding of electrical and electronic principles, digital circuits, and signal integrity.
• Coursework, internship, project, or laboratory experience with object-oriented programming. C# preferred; Java, C++, or Python relevant.
• Familiarity with hardware debugging and root-cause analysis using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, or protocol analyzers.
• Exposure to software that interacts with hardware, including FPGA- or ASIC-based systems, is a plus.
• Familiarity with Git and Jira, or comparable development and issue-tracking tools.
• Analytical problem-solving, clear written and verbal communication, and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Apply established test methods to verify product functionality, performance, and system-level robustness.
• Develop, debug, and maintain automated test code in an object-oriented environment, including C# and C++ for Windows and embedded Linux.
• Use laboratory tools and test results to identify, isolate, and document hardware, firmware, and software issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to clarify requirements, technical constraints, interfaces, and expected behavior.
• Prepare test plans, procedures, results, and technical documentation for review.
• Support validation from early development through factory release and manufacturing handoff.
• Participate in reviews of requirements, designs, code, tests, and documentation.
• Communicate progress, risks, and results; complete assigned work according to established priorities and procedures.
• Contribute to improvements in verification practices, tools, and team knowledge.
