Job summary

The Marquette, MI office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Entry-Level (Staff) Geological/Mining/Civil Engineer to join our growing Mining team. We are looking for a motivated candidate with interest in field and analytical skills and a strong team orientation.

Responsibilities include planning geotechnical investigations, reporting results, field work at active and abandoned mines, and creating GIS/AutoCAD figures. MSHA/HAZWOPER training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geology, geological engineering or mining engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 0-2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Willingness to perform field work and travel up to 70% of time; MSHA/HAZWOPER training provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and performing geotechnical investigations and reporting.
• Document field results and prepare field reports; log soil/rock borings.
• Assist in field work at mines; take site photos and notes; prepare safety gear.
• Create basic plans/figures with GIS, Google Earth and AutoCAD.
• Support in ground support calculations and geologic mapping.
