Job summary

BBA is seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer to execute geotechnical engineering tasks, analysis, design, and construction support. You will perform site investigations, supervise activities, and prepare technical reports across diverse projects in the U.S.

and potentially internationally. The role requires 1–3 years of geotechnical experience and an engineering degree in geotechnical-related fields; FE/EIT eligibility preferred.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or master’s degree in mining engineering, geological engineering, or civil engineering with a geotechnical focus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation abilities.
• Registered engineer in training (EIT) or eligibility to take FE within 1 year.
• 1–3 years of geotechnical engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Execute geotechnical engineering tasks and provide analysis, design, and construction support.
• Supervise geotechnical site investigations and laboratory materials testing; prepare reports.
• Review and supervise construction activities related to geotechnical projects.
• Conduct slope stability, seepage and deformation analyses; assess rock mechanics applications.
• Plan instrumentation, supervise installations, monitor results and report findings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in proposals.

As a junior geotechnical engineer, you’ll execute geotechnicalengineering tasks. You’ll provide analysis, design, construction support and geotechnicalsite investigation services, within the context of overall project executionobjectives.

• Technically manage and direct geotechnical site investigations, supervise investigation activities, conduct laboratory materials testing and prepare technical reports
• Review and supervise civil/geotechnical-related construction activities
• Conduct geotechnical engineering analysis, including slope stability, seepage and deformation analysis
• Work on rock mechanics applications, including field mapping, geotechnical core logging, rock mass characterization, rock stability assessment, and reinforcement design
• Plan geotechnical instrumentation, supervise installations, and monitor and report results
• Play a role in multidisciplinary project teams, including ensuring deliverable technical quality
• Collaborate and participate in technical discussions with team members and clients
• Participate in proposal work
• Travel to project sites within the U.S. and potentially internationally

Summary of certifications and jobrequirements

• B.Sc. or master’s degree in mining engineering, geological engineering, or civil engineering with a focus in geotechnical engineering
• Registered engineer in training (EIT) or eligible to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within one year of starting
• 1 to 3 years of relevant professional geotechnical engineering experience
• Strong academic background and solid understanding of soil and rock mechanics
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, technical writing experience and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team
• Ability and willingness to travel to project sites
• Asset: Bilingual in Spanish and/or French
• Asset: Familiarity with geotechnical design software: SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, Rocscience software suite, FLAC, and more
