Visionist, Inc. in Laurel, MD is seeking a Junior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a mission-driven team supporting massive data platforms and AI services.

You will help build production AI components, apply IaC, and ensure reliability in a security-focused environment. Required skills include Python, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and AWS exposure; a Bachelor's in a technical field and 3 years of software development experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; 3 years of software development experience.
• Certifications: AWS Certified Developer – Associate.
• AWS Certified Machine Learning – Associate.
• AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty.
• AWS DevOps Engineer Professional.
• CKAD - Experience contributing to production systems.
• Familiarity with high-volume web application architectures.
• Exposure to cloud engineering, preferably AWS.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes concepts and containerized deployments.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt in fast-moving environments.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to ask questions and collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Implement and support infrastructure for AI model inference under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of production AI services and applications, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and autonomous agents.
• Participate in implementing monitoring, logging, and observability for AI services.
• Assist with automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
• Help ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of AI platform components.
• Follow established security best practices for AI systems and data.
• Work effectively in ambiguous problem spaces, learning to define structured and scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to shared engineering standards.
