Job summary

Firebird AST seeks a Junior Forensic Accountant to support Homeland Security Investigations’ FCU in Crystal City, VA. The position is hybrid with some travel required. You will analyze financial structures of illicit networks and prepare professional products for investigations.

Responsibilities include data mining, interview support, and creating charts and reports for federal use. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, criminal justice, or related discipline.
• Experience using forensic techniques and financial investigation tools.
• Knowledge of AICPA disciplines and accounting procedures.
• Experience analyzing financial records to support federal investigations.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and analyze financial components of money laundering, DTOs, and TCOs.
• Participate in planning sessions with financial investigative groups and task forces.
• Assist with interviews during financial investigations.
• Identify all parties involved in criminal activity through transaction analysis.
• Audit complex financial records to support federal prosecutions.
• Obtain and correlate raw criminal intelligence from databases.
• Produce Excel charts, reports, PowerPoint presentations, infographics, and link charts for intelligence summaries.
