Job summary

FMS Aerospace in Huntsville, AL seeks a Junior Flight Test Engineer to support ground and flight testing for aircraft modification programs. You will work on planning, data acquisition, analysis, and reporting under guidance from senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Math, Physics)
• 2+ years direct flight test engineering experience
• FAA Class III Medical Certificate or ability to obtain one
• Strong understanding of aerodynamics, flight mechanics, and aircraft systems
• Experience with data acquisition systems and engineering tools

Responsibilities

• Assist development of flight test plans for performance, flight characteristics, systems, and certification tests
• Support regulatory compliance activities with engineering specialists
• Define instrumentation requirements (data params, ranges, accuracy, sampling rates)
• Prepare aircraft for testing, maintain configuration control, support inspections, weight & balance, airworthiness evaluations
• Prepare flight test cards and assist pre-/post-test briefings for ground and flight tests
• Support flight test operations to collect engineering data during various flight test programs
• Apply safety and risk management procedures across test programs
• Track test-point progress and provide status updates to management
• Coordinate with maintenance, remote sites, contractors, vendors, and airworthiness authorities
