Job summary

W&M Fire Protection, part of the Davis-Ulmer family, is hiring an entry-level Fire Protection Designer for the Hawthorne, NY team. You will assist in designing fire sprinkler and alarm systems, prepare drawings, and support submittals under supervision.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, learning NFPA standards, and collaboration with project teams, engineers, and field staff in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or Technical School equivalent.
• Willingness to learn NFPA standards and local building codes.
• Proficiency or willingness to learn AutoCAD; Revit is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in layout and design of fire protection systems (sprinklers and alarms).
• Prepare drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software.
• Perform basic hydraulic calculations and system sizing under supervision.
• Review drawings to identify fire protection requirements.
• Assist with code research and NFPA standards application.
• Support submittals, shop drawings, and material lists.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from senior staff.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation.
• Support as-built drawing updates based on field conditions.
