Job summary

Certerra Southwest is hiring an entry-level Staff Engineer to support quality control inspections and testing of construction materials on public and private projects in the Phoenix area. You will assist senior staff with field observations, data collection, and reporting while developing a path toward project management.

The role requires a high school diploma, a clean driving record, and comfort with plans, IBC inspections, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of construction materials testing and observation experience preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications preferred.
• Experience with IBC Special Inspections preferred.
• Experience on small to large complex projects preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• A valid driver's license and clean driving history required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Strong organization and planning skills required.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook

Responsibilities

• Work with project designers and clients to ensure client specifications are followed.
• Knowledge of routine to complex inspections and testing of construction materials in the field.
• Prepare daily reports on observation activities.
• Geotechnical lab and field testing.
• Review observation and test data for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with proposal scoping, estimating and preparation.
• Track project budgets and prepare invoicing.
• Assist with training, supervision, and mentoring of junior staff as needed.
• Perform field inspections and testing as needed.
