Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs, bids, and proposals for construction projects.
• Review architectural, structural, civil, and project documents to understand scope, materials, quantities, and requirements.
• Perform accurate material and labor takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Help solicit, organize, and compare pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
• Assist senior estimators with developing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals.
• Track vendor and subcontractor quotes and identify pricing discrepancies or scope gaps.
• Maintain organized estimating files, bid documentation spreadsheets, and supporting information.
• Research material costs, labor requirements, equipment needs, and other project-related expenses.
• Assist in identifying potential risks, exclusions, inconsistencies, and opportunities within bid documents.
• Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to gather pricing and clarify scope.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, project walkthroughs, and estimating discussions as needed.
• Work closely with project management and operations teams to ensure estimates reflect project requirements.
• Help ensure bids are complete, competitive, accurate, and submitted on time.
• Continue developing knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, production rates, and industry pricing.
• Learn from experienced estimators and progressively take ownership of more complex estimating responsibilities.
