Job summary

T.J. McCartney, Inc. is a leading drywall and façade contractor in New England, seeking a Junior Estimator to support our Estimating Team.

You will analyze drawings and specifications, compile cost data, and help build a foundation in construction pricing, cost control, and project planning. Ideal candidates have a construction management background, internship, and the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field (or equivalent technical training).
• Internship or prior exposure to construction or estimating preferred.
• Basic understanding of construction divisions, methods, materials, and cost drivers.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, and other project documents to support estimate development
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assist in preparing detailed cost estimates
• Compile and analyze data from various sources, including historical cost data, material pricing, and internal cost data
• Maintain organized backup documentation for all estimates
• Support estimate updates, revisions, and cost comparisons throughout the preconstruction process
• Attend pre-bid meetings and assist in scope review and clarification
• Perform additional assignments as needed to support the estimating team

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Junior Estimator to support our Estimating Team. This role will assist in analyzing drawings and specifications, compiling cost data, and supporting the overall estimating process - building a strong foundation in construction pricing, cost control, and project planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, and other project documents to support estimate development
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assist in preparing detailed cost estimates

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
• Preferred: Experience with On-Screen Takeoff (OST) or similar, Quickbid, Bluebeam and/or Adobe
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
