Job summary

DCPS in Englewood, CO seeks a Junior Construction Estimator to assist in preparing cost estimates for a range of projects. You will collaborate with senior estimators and project managers to analyze plans and documents, calculating material and labor costs with accuracy and efficiency.

You will gain hands-on experience in the estimating process, supporting bid preparation and cost tracking while learning industry trends and cost management techniques in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Able to work in a dynamic construction estimating team.
• Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and labor costs.
• Basic knowledge of estimating software (ProEst/Buildertrend/Bluebeam) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
• Proactive and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Gather pricing information from suppliers and subs to support estimates.
• Maintain and update cost databases with material and labor costs.

• Review contracts and project scope to ensure estimates align with requirements.
• Participate in bid preparation and ensure information is included in final proposals.
• Monitor project progress and update estimates as needed.
• Assist with risk assessments and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.

Job Overview:
As a Junior Construction Estimator, you will assist in preparing cost estimates for construction projects. You will work closely with senior estimators and project managers to analyze project specifications, plans, and other documents to calculate material and labor costs, while maintaining high levels of accuracy and efficiency. You will gain hands-on experience in the estimating process and contribute to the overall success of the project team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and other documents to prepare comprehensive quantity takeoffs.
• Gather pricing information from suppliers and subcontractors to support accurate estimates.
• Help maintain and update databases with material and labor cost information.
• Coordinate with senior estimators, project managers, and other team members to gather relevant project details.
• Review contracts and project scope to ensure estimates align with project requirements.
• Participate in bid preparation, ensuring all necessary information is incorporated into final proposals.
• Monitor project progress and assist in updating cost estimates as needed.
• Assist with risk assessments and identify potential areas for cost savings or project delays.
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends, construction methods, and cost management techniques.
• Perform administrative tasks related to the estimating process, including report generation and document management.

Working Conditions:
